INTERESTING NOTES: While he was born in Cleveland, Ohio, he grew up in Cobourg, Ontario where his parents were born.

He immigrated to the United States in the 1920s, spending some time in Chicago before settling in Buffalo, New York. He married in 1930 and moved his family to Lockport in Niagara County in the 1950s.

As part of his work as a steeplejack, he was once stuck on a chimney for many hours in an incident that received national news attention.
